GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Work is underway on a new commercial building at The Village at Knapp’s Crossing retail development on East Beltline Avenue NE that will bring a Barnes & Noble bookstore and several other businesses to the area.

In addition to the bookstore, the building will house a Goldfish Swim School, a Yoga Six studio, and an Acapulco Mexican Grill.

Construction at the site, just north of the intersection of East Beltline Avenue NE and Knapp Street NE, kicked off earlier this year, and the building is expected to open in mid-2025, said Drew Ford, leasing and marketing coordinator for Lormax Stern, a metro Detroit commercial real estate firm that owns The Village at Knapp’s Crossing.

“Knapp’s Crossing is an excellent location for this tenant line up due to some of the strongest demographics and sales volumes in the Grand Rapids area,” Ford said.

The Village at Knapp’s Crossing is home to 34 businesses, including a D&W Fresh Market, T.J. Maxx, Old Navy, P.F. Chang’s, Mattress Firm, Ultra Beauty and more.

Once open, the new Barnes & Noble store will be the third in the Grand Rapids area. The other two are located at Woodland Mall in Kentwood and RiverTown Crossings in Grandville.

There is one vacant spot left to be filled in the new building that will house the Barnes & Noble and other businesses, according to a site plan provided by Ford.
